Skills Sharing: Selection Criteria for Vehicle Monitoring Cameras
Jan 07, 2019

Vehicle-mounted monitoring (DVR) is an important part of urban public transport safety construction. It is mainly used in the field of public transport and transportation, and even in business stores, road public places, etc. Its application scope is more and more extensive. How can we choose a suitable vehicle surveillance camera? What are its purchase criteria? Next, let Xiaobian introduce to you the selection criteria of on-board surveillance cameras:

1. Anti-vibration performance:

Compared with ordinary DVR, vehicle DRV technology is more complex than ordinary DVR, and the key to be solved is different. They are two completely different concepts. Because vehicle DVR is used in mobile vehicles, the vibration amplitude of DVR directly affects the reading and writing data of hard disk due to the influence of vehicle condition and road condition, which also causes great damage to the equipment. Therefore, anti-seismic technology has become the most basic requirement of vehicle DVR. At present, the main measures are vibration reduction of the whole machine, hard disk bracket and hard disk.

2. Ensure stable voltage supply:

Voltage stability is another important technology of vehicle DVR. Vehicle power supply mainly comes from battery power supply. Most people know that there are 12 V and 24 V automobile power supply. So when choosing a product, I feel that as long as the product meets the 12V or 24V power supply. But that's not the case. Automotive power supply is very complex and changeable.

12V and 24V are only one standard. In the course of driving, vehicles will ignite, brake and step on the accelerator. These behaviors will directly affect the output voltage of the vehicle and produce fluctuations of different magnitudes, which can easily cause burnout of the vehicle DVR. Therefore, the on-board DVR must have a wide voltage input capability to adapt to this voltage change. At present, 6-36V wide voltage is usually used to meet the needs of mobile vehicles.

3. Good heat dissipation performance:

In the course of vehicle operation, the temperature difference varies greatly under the influence of environment and weather. This puts forward higher requirements for the heat dissipation performance of vehicle-mounted DVR. If the heat dissipation is poor, it will directly affect the life of the product, but also affect the monitoring effect. At present, some products on the market heat dissipation through fans, some heat dissipation through the fuselage, so when choosing and purchasing, it is best to let the product run for a period of time before measuring the fuselage temperature and observing the actual effect of the image.

4. Image sharpness:

Image sharpness directly affects the monitoring effect. Product chips determine the clarity of the image. Therefore, when choosing products, we should pay attention to which processing chip, which compression format, and which resolution the product supports. Current products mainly support CIF to D1, using D1 video, CIF transmission, to observe the actual effect, we need to record a video at different resolutions, observe the video playback effect, whether the picture is clear, whether there is a delay phenomenon.

5. Interface firmness:

Affected by the braking, speed and road condition of the vehicle, the vibration amplitude is large. If the product interface is not firm, the wiring is easy to fall off, resulting in image jitter, video loss and power loss. Therefore, when choosing products, we should carefully observe whether the interface is firm. Some manufacturers will concentrate most of the interface on the back panel, replace it with a multi-pin interface, and then bundle all the data lines together, which will play a good role in the firmness of the interface.

6. Wireless transmission:

In addition to providing local video and forensic information, vehicle-mounted DVR also needs to send the obtained video information back to the control center in time to facilitate the control center to timely understand the vehicle situation and centralized management. Therefore, wireless transmission is particularly important. At present, it mainly uses the GPRS network of mobile phone to transmit. Because of the problem of broadband cost, it can not transmit in real time. It can only transmit 5-7 frames in CIF format in one second. Therefore, the user can check whether the transmitted image is clear and smooth in the control center.

7. Waterproof performance:

Vehicles are usually cleaned every day, especially on buses. After the bus arrives at the station, the staff will use water to wash the carriage. If the waterproofing performance is not good, the water droplets may enter the cabinet. When the vehicle ignites, the equipment may burn out. Therefore, the waterproofing performance of the vehicle DVR can not be ignored.

8. Dust-proof ability:

Dust is indispensable for passengers on and off buses. Therefore, the product in the dust-proof aspect also put forward the very high request. When choosing products, users should try to choose products with fully enclosed shell and good sealing interface. Prevent dust from entering the cabinet, so as not to affect the stability of product operation.

9. Outsourcing compact:

Vehicle DVR products are pursuing miniaturization design, which is not only exquisite appearance, but also to meet the narrow installation environment in the car. Because the models of large buses, small buses and private cars are different, and the interior space is also very different, so when choosing products, it is necessary to choose different sizes of vehicle DVR according to the model.

10. High integration:

Vehicle DVR is not only a single product, not just a camera for surveillance and video recording, but also should have a rich interface, which can be integrated in some large projects, so that the space will be larger. So you can see whether the interface is rich, whether there are some protocols, whether it is convenient to upgrade, and whether it is compatible with the access platform.

11. Hard disk capacity:

Generally speaking, hard disk space should be large enough, otherwise there will be no space in less than a month. At the same time, there must be an interface to copy the data directly without disassembling the machine. At the same time, to meet the needs of customers, the quality of hard disk should be reliable, can not be used less than a month to break down.

12. Alarm function settings:

Vehicles have always been the blind spot in the monitoring area, and the on-board DVR just makes up for this gap. Therefore, in addition to video recording, vehicle DVR should also have alarm function. When an accident occurs on the vehicle, the alarm signal can be uploaded to the control center by installing an alarm device in the vehicle. The control center can know the situation in time and centralize the dispatch. So we can check whether the DVR has the functions of opening door video and alarm video.

13. GPS positioning system:

GPS positioning system is very important for buses, police vehicles and banknote vehicles. It can implement unified allocation and timely grasp the specific location of vehicles. At present, most vehicle-mounted DVRs are only used as single computers, but the products reserve the interface of GPS and other functional modules. GPS positioning module can be installed through the interface to realize satellite positioning and remote control.

14. Black Box:

Black box, also known as "Vehicle Driving Recorder", is one of the important functions of DVR. It can record all the data of the whole process of motor vehicle operation. It can manage and supervise the driver through the computer software. When the vehicle speeds or other violations occur, the black box will transmit the information to the control center to play an early warning role.

15. Media Playing

In the past, vehicle-mounted DVR was mainly video, but now it has diversified functions. Playing entertainment programs can not only meet the entertainment needs of passengers, but also bring new business opportunities for operators. This function can receive radio and TV signals, pre-store entertainment programs such as DVD and VCD, and insert advertisements.

These are the reference criteria for choosing and purchasing on-board surveillance cameras. You can learn about them. Vehicle surveillance camera system will be an important component of Intelligent Transportation, providing strong guarantee for vehicle scheduling management, driving safety, and improving vehicle utilization.
